White Rice
INGREDIENTS:
1 cup medium grain white rice
water
heaping spoonful of butter
cajun seasoning
DIRECTIONS:
In a pot, (size depends on your preference). Add the desired amount of rice and rinse with cold water until the water runs clear (optional)
Add in the water for cooking **SEE NOTES FOR MEASUREMENT**, seasoning, and butter and bring this to a boil.
Once boiling, stir rice, cover, and turn the heat down to low. Let steam for 15-20 minutes.
NOTES:
Measuring with your fingers instead of cups: After you rinse the rice off, fill the pot with water, enough to cover the rice with a little extra. Using your pointer finger, place it into the rice, touching the bottom of the pot. Place your thumb next to your pointer finger, and set it on top of the rice. (cont. below)
Remove both fingers from the rice, keeping them touching and in place, place your pointer finger back into the rice, but this time, set it on top of the rice instead of at the bottom of the pot. The tip of your thumb will be what you use to measure the water level. If your thumb is not touching the water, add water until it is or take away until the water just touches the tip of your thumb.
