Homemade Waffles

1 cup flour

2 tablespoons white sugar

2 teaspoons baking powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 egg

1 1/4 cups milk ( i used oat milk, but any one works)

4 tablespoons butter, melted

1 vanilla bean, scraped (or 1 teaspoon extract)


  1. In a mixing bowl, combine all of your ingredients and mix well. Set aside.

  2. In a hot waffle iron, spray nonstick spray or baste with a little melted butter. (NOTE: use extra melted butter, not the 4 tablespoons listed above, that gets added into the batter!)

  3. Pour about 1 cup of batter into a standard sized waffle iron, close and cook until the batter is cooked thoroughly.

  4. Serve topped with butter, syrup or your other favorite toppings!
